Exploring the Cave of the Winds

Posted by admin on Aug 10 | Uncategorized

Located in Williams Canyon, Colorado, the Cave of the Winds offers three different walking tours tailored to your adventure level: the Discovery Tour, Eco-Adventure Tour and Lantern Tour. In addition, the attraction offers other activities such as panning for gold in the children’s area, the Pain of Glass dinner theater, and the Wind Walker Challenge Course. Nature lovers will also enjoy the Williams Canyon overlook and the three-mile Williams Canyon hike, which includes waterfalls.

The Discovery Tour lasts 45 minutes and covers one mile. It’s designed for beginners and families, and provides views of rock formations such as the Giant’s Bleeding Heart as you travel through caverns like the Temple of Silence. The tour guides will discuss the caves’ history and geology.

The Eco Tour travels the same ground, but the electric lights are switched off and each person gets a flashlight. The guides will emphasize the importance of a cave’s ecosystem and the natural history of the caves.

The Lantern Tour lasts 1.5 hours and requires athletic shoes, as well as stooping and shuffling. Children five-years-old and younger may not take this tour. It explores different caverns like the Spider’s Den, and the tour guides will recount Cave of the Winds folklore and spooky historical events.
